Archaeological Museum
The state department of Archaeology after taking over as a
monument has spent lakhs of rupees and removated the pillars of the
palace. In the Natakasala an archaeological museum has been set up by
the department. Stone sculptures collected from the various parts of the
Pandya country formed part of the museum. Sculptures from 9 to 16 C.A.D.
of various sects, religions, were arranged neatly. Pre historic
antiquities like stone age tools, megalithic potteries, burial urns,
iron objects are also to be worth mentioned in the museum. Some replica
of paintings of chola, pallava, vijaya nagara period also can be seen
here.
A permanent special exhibition depicting various features
of the history of Thirumalai Naick is arranged with photographs.
Sculptures of Thirumalai Naick, his wives, his contribution to temple
architecture and temple jewellary are all explained in the form of
photographs. It is a worth seeing place for the people interested in
Indian art and culture.
